User roles and permissions in Blend

Roles control the level of access for a user in Blend. Roles can include multiple permissions and multiple roles can be assigned to a user to stack access levels.

tip_5.pngNote: Blend Support does not manage user roles and permissions. For any changes to your role and permission, contact your Blend administrator at your organization.

 

Creating a role and assigning permissions

  1. Go to Your settings.
  2. Click Setup.

  3. Select Role Permissions.
  4. Edit a role or create a new role.
    a. To edit an existing role, select it from the drop-down field.
    b. To create a new role, click Add New Role and name it.

  5. Choose the desired access. Select Always to allow this functionality within the role or Never to restrict it.
  6. Click Save.

Assigning roles to users

  1. Go to Your settings.
  2. Click Setup.

  3. Click Users.
  4. Select the user.
  5. Click Edit.

  6. Select the role from the drop-down list. You can select multiple roles per user.
  7. Click Update user to apply changes.

Create

Create Loans

Required to view the New Loan button.

If Create Loans is set to Always and View Loans is set to Never, users can still create loans but will not be able to see them.

Loan originationUsers who originate loans in Blend should have both, Create Loans and View Loans.
Create ProcessesThis permission can be ignored. It has no impact and should be set to Never.N/AN/A
Create Documents

Allows lenders to upload documents in the Docs tab. View Documents and View Loans must be enabled with this permission.

If a lender can View Documents, the Docs tab will appear.

If they can Create Documents, the Upload File button will be visible to them.

If they can View Documents, but can't Create Documents, the Docs tab will be visible, but there will be no option to upload documents.

Document managementLOs or LOAs who receive documents from a borrower outside of Blend and want to upload them into the Blend loan will need this permission.
Create Users

This permission gives lenders the ability to create new lender users.

View Users should be enabled with this permission.

User administrationThis permission is typically given to Blend administrators in your organization.
Create Roles

This permission gives lenders the ability to create new user roles.

View Roles and Edit Roles should be enabled with this permission.

User administrationThis permission is typically given to Blend administrators in your organization.
Create DisclosuresThis permission needs to be enabled along with Create Documents, View Disclosures, and Bulk download loan documents for a user to utilize the Blend-Encompass disclosures functionality.DisclosuresThis permission should be given to lenders issuing disclosures in Blend.
Create Restricted Mortgage InviteThis permission allows lender users to invite a borrower to a loan and then exposes a simple pipeline of those loans to them.N/AAllowing branch bankers to refer borrowers for mortgages, but not see their data or work on the loan in any way.

View Activity HistoryThe user must have View Loans turned on also.
The user will then be able to view the activity tab.If this is turned off, the borrower will see the Activity tab but it will say no activities found.

View DocumentsThe user must have View Loans turned on as well. Delete

Delete Loans

This must be enabled along with View Loans.

Note: If View Loans is set to Always and Delete Loans is set to When assigned to loan, users can still delete all loans.Blend support does not delete live loans. We recommend archiving the loan instead. Loan deletion is managed by your administrator.

Note: Exercise caution when deleting users. If there are loans assigned to a user who is to be deleted, those loans will become unassigned and will go into the pipeline. Please ensure all loans are re-assigned before deleting a user.

User managementAdministrators need this permission to delete a user when they leave the company.

Loan Teams

Auto assign loans to loan teamWhen this permission is set to Always, new loans will be automatically assigned to the loan originator's loan team.Furthermore, if the loan originator reassigns a loan to themselves, the loan will be automatically assigned to the entire loan team.When this permission is set to Never, new loans will only be assigned to the loan originator.Loan assignments and loan teamsLOs with Loan Officer Assistants or other LOs on their team will often need their loans automatically assigned to the rest of their team.
