Available: Now

How to turn on:

This feature will automatically be turned on for all customers on the dates listed above.

Purpose of Update and Benefit:

Settlement agent teams (formerly known as branches) provide settlement agents with the ability to access closings that are not directly assigned to them by the lender. This can be especially useful in cases where an agency receives closing assignments to a generic email (i.e. closings@blend.com) and/or groups of agents within an agency collaborate on the same set of closings. With this release, we are introducing the ability for settlement agents to create and maintain their own teams within the settlement agent workspace.

Current Behavior:

Prior to this release, lenders/agencies would have to reach out to Blend’s Close Support team to set up or make changes to an SA team.

New Behavior:

SAs will now see a dedicated “Teams” page within the settlement agent workspace (accessible via the two-people icon in the bottom left-hand corner).

Any SA will have the ability to create a team using the “Create new team” button in the top right corner. Once clicked, a modal will appear requesting name and address details.

Next, the SA will be prompted to choose one of two sharing settings for the team:

  • Open Sharing - closings shared with any team member will be available to all team members
  • Centralized Sharing - closings shared with a specific team member (typically a shared docs email) will be available to all team members

If “Centralized Sharing” is chosen, the SA will be asked to enter the email of the specific team member that will be sharing their closings.

Finally, the SA will be able to add team members and specify which of those members should also be an admin (the SA creating the team will be added as an admin by default). Admins have the ability to edit team information, add/remove team members and admins, and delete the team

Once the team is created, admins will see a view like this:

Each admin will be able to see team information (they can also edit the team information or delete the team) and member information (they can edit each member’s admin setting or remove a member from a team) for each of the teams for which they have admin privileges. Members will see a similar view, but the only action that they will be able to take is to remove themselves from a team.

A member must accept their invite to a team before their membership becomes active. After a member is added to a team, they will see a modal when they log into workspace that asks them to accept (or decline) their invite. This modal will continue to appear until the user takes action.

All team members will be able to act on closings (download documents, complete tasks, etc) in the same way that they would if the closing was directly assigned to them.
