Purpose of Update and Benefit:
When unmarried or separated co-borrowers start an application, the primary borrower is asked if they have access and authorization to provide personal, income, and asset information about their co-borrower. When the primary borrower confirms they have access and authorization to provide the requested information, both borrowers are included within the same Uniform Residential Loan Application (URLA)). Some lenders would like unmarried and separated co-borrowers to be on separate URLAs and this new configuration allows lenders to opt into always treating unmarried and separated co-borrowers as non-sharing co-borrowers.
Current Behavior (provide screenshots if applicable):
Currently, when unmarried or separated co-borrowers enter the application process, the primary borrower is asked if they have access and authorization to provide information for their co-borrower. If the primary borrower confirms they have authorization then both borrowers have the option to use the same email address, provide information on behalf of the co-borrower, and share information between themselves.
New Behavior (provide screenshots if applicable)
When the new configuration for separating unmarried or separated co-borrowers is on, once the primary borrower indicates during the application process that they are applying with a co-borrower to who they are not married, the primary borrower will not be asked if they have access and authorization to provide information or consent on behalf of their co-borrower. Additionally, both borrowers will need to provide separate email addresses, will complete separate URLAs, and will be unable to share information between themselves.
