Date Available:
Beta 7/25, Prod 8/22
Which customers are impacted?:
Blend Income customers who utilize the Login-Based Provider workflow.
How to turn on:
This feature will be automatically enabled for all customers on the dates listed above.
Purpose of Update and Benefit:
Blend has completed work on integrating with MyPay, the payroll provider for the US military. This integration will function similarly to the Login-Based Provider workflow, in that military borrowers will be able to log in to their MyPay accounts in the Income section to automatically pre-fill their military pay into the application. If the borrower accepts the income, Blend will generate a Blend Income report for the successful income hit, and will also generate up to six most recent Leave and Earnings Statements (LES) and make them available to view and download in the Documents tab in both the borrower portal and lender application. Lenders must have the Login-Based Provider workflow enabled in their environments in order to use Blend Income’s MyPay integration for military income.
Current Behavior:
Blend Income currently does not have an integration with MyPay. Borrowers receiving income from the military would need to manually enter this information in the Income section of the application.
New Behavior:
Blend Income supports an integration with MyPay that will allow borrowers who are receiving income from the military to connect to their MyPay account. This method is similar to the Login-Based Provider workflow.
Triggering MyPay in the Getting Started section
In the Getting Started section of the application, borrowers will be asked if they are an active military personnel, a veteran or surviving spouse. If borrowers move the slider from “No” to “Yes,” they will see additional fields asking for more information about their status.
Note: If a borrower chooses “Surviving Spouse” as their current military status, they will be sent down the same paths as a non-military borrower (e.g. any of the borrower workflows outside of this section of the guide). This is because surviving spouses do not have access to MyPay. Income received from the military due to being a surviving spouse should be entered as an annuity rather than attempting to login through MyPay or log it as Military Pay.
Borrowers will proceed through the rest of the application as usual. When they reach the Income section, they will be asked if they would like to add their military income.
Note: In situations where the borrower receives an Instant Lookup hit AND the borrower indicates they are receiving military pay, the Income section will first show the pre-filled income from the Instant Lookup hit. Borrowers will then be able to add their military income by clicking “Yes, add more income” and then clicking on the “Military Pay” tile.
If borrowers click “Add military income details” they will see another page directing them to securely link to their payroll provider (in this case, MyPay).
Clicking “Connect your employment data” will open a modal asking for a username and password. Borrowers should use their MyPay account information for these fields.
If the connection is successful, the application will show a preview of the military income for the borrower to review.
Borrowers can click “View annual income summary” to see a breakdown of income for the current year and past two years. If borrowers click “Remove,” the income will not be added to their application, and a Blend Income report will not be generated for this income. Clicking “Continue” will add the income to the Summary page.
Note: Borrowers can only add military income through our MyPay integration once. If they click on “Military Pay” after they have already added pre-filled military income, they will need to add that additional military income/employment information manually.
If borrowers have accepted the pre-filled military income, they will see a Blend Income Verification report in the Documents tab of the borrower home. Additionally, they will see Military Leave and Earnings Statements (LESes). Blend will return up to six LES PDFs in production environments, however lenders may notice more than six while testing in beta or sandbox environments.
Lenders will also see the Blend Income Verification report and all generated LESes in the Docs tab of the lender application. These documents will have the doctype MILITARY_LES.
Triggering the MyPay integration through the Military Pay tile in Income section
If a borrower does not indicate they are receiving military pay in the Getting Started section of the application, they can click on the “Military Pay” tile when they get to the Income section. Doing so will allow borrowers to indicate whether they want to connect to their account (which will imitate the login workflows outlined earlier in this Release Note) or manually enter the data. If they successfully connect to their MyPay account, the application will show the borrower pre-filled military income. If the borrower accepts that pre-filled income, a Blend Income Verification report and up to six LES PDFs will be available in the Documents tab.
