Date Available: Beta 10/31, Prod 11/28
Which customers are impacted?: All customers using Blend for application intake, follow-ups, and disclosures.
How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled for all customers on the dates listed above, however users will not be able to change settings unless a user admin enables a new role permission for their accounts.
Purpose of Update and Benefit:
This new feature will allow individual loan team members to configure the frequency and cadence of email reminders that are sent to borrowers from Blend. These settings apply to incomplete application reminders, follow-up reminders, and disclosure package reminders. The ability to configure these settings will be gated by a new role permission called “Edit reminder preferences” so that lenders have control over which users can interact with these settings.
This feature was built to allow lender users to configure email reminder cadence specifically, however these new settings will also control the reminder cadence for our borrower SMS feature.
Current Behavior:
Email reminders are sent to borrowers every 48 hours for a total of three times. This cadence is not configurable.
New Behavior:
Loan team members may now customize the cadence and total number of times that email reminders are sent to borrowers. The cadence for incomplete application emails, Follow-up emails and Disclosure package emails are available with options to indicate the number of reminders to be sent to the borrower as well as the frequency of those email reminders. Loan team members can set a different cadence or can turn off automatic reminders for each reminder type.
In order to be able to configure email reminder settings, loan team members will need to have the “Edit reminder preferences” permission set to “Always” for their assigned user role (this will need to be done by a lender customer’s user admin).
When that is enabled, loan team members will be able to configure email reminder settings by navigating to Your Settings -> Account -> Email Reminders.
Loan team members can select the frequency of reminders using the radio buttons on this page, and change the total number of reminders that are sent to borrowers using the text box under “Number of reminders.” To revert to default settings (Every 48 hours, Number of reminders: 3), users can click the “Reset defaults” button at the bottom of this page. When loan team members are finished making changes, they should scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Save changes.”
For follow-ups, if loan teams select the “Turn off notifications for all borrowers” in the follow-ups tab of a loan, that setting will override the configured email cadence for follow-ups for that loan.
