Purpose of Update and Benefit:
This is an extension of the existing Custom Questions functionality from Mortgage to Home Equity on the Lending Platform.
Historically, there have been requests for additional configurability of the Blend platform and the highest frequency request is the ability for customers to add custom questions to borrower and lender workflows. With the introduction of custom questions, customers have more flexibility to add questions specific to their needs in the home equity workflow that makes the most sense for their borrowers and LOs. These custom questions can be added to the app pre-submit.
The introduction of custom questions however does not provide the ability for customers to remove or change any existing questions in the borrower and lender workflows, nor does it allow customers to add any TRID fields as new custom questions.
Blend supports the following custom question response types for customers to choose:
Current Behavior:
Prior to this release, custom questions were not available for Home Equity.
New Behavior:
Custom questions can be added to both the borrower view and the lender view.
There are three sections where the loan officer can add Custom Questions to the loan application. The LO can collect a question in the “Loan Information,” “Subject Property Information,” or the “Borrower Information” sections of the loan application.

There are three borrower workflow options for the Custom Questions feature. The borrower can encounter Custom Questions during the “Getting Started,” “Getting to Know You,” or the “Additional Questions” sections of the borrower application.

There are no character limits to either the question or the response a borrower can provide. The custom questions will always appear at the end of each section of the available options. Custom questions will only be shown to the primary borrower in all workflows.
Please refer to the Custom Questions Product Guide if you would like to see more examples.
