Purpose of Update and Benefit:
This release introduces a new feature designed to reduce friction for new applicants when creating a Blend account, ultimately streamlining the entry process for initiating a new application. With this enhancement, the configuration of the email confirmation field can now be controlled by loan type, providing greater flexibility and a more seamless experience for applicants.

The ability to customize the email confirmation requirement allows you to tailor the account creation process based on the specific loan type. For example, you can configure the system to require new users to confirm their email address for Mortgage loan types while simplifying the process for Deposit Accounts, where only a single email input is necessary.

This customization is intended to enhance user experience by reducing unnecessary steps, making the account creation process quicker and more user-friendly.

Current Behavior:
Prior to this update, all new Blend applicants were required to enter their email address twice during the account creation process—once for the initial entry and again for email confirmation. This behavior was consistent across all loan types.

New Behavior:
With the new configuration, you can now choose to disable the email confirmation field for specific loan types. When the confirmation field is disabled for a particular loan type (e.g., Deposit Accounts), new users will only be prompted to enter their email address once during account creation, eliminating the need to confirm their email in a second field.

If the email confirmation is enabled (e.g., for Mortgage loans), users will continue to see the two-step process of entering and confirming their email.

This feature only applies to accounts created within the Blend account creation process “/create-account”. SSO authentication will bypass this process.
