Available Now, Opt-In
This release was updated with new screenshots for the lender workspace on 8/23.
Purpose of Update and Benefit: During the application process, applicants are prompted to fill out various addresses depending on their path. Currently, when completing an application, borrowers are asked to confirm the address entered for accuracy, however there are no validation checks performed on the entered address. Based on customer feedback, we’re adding new address verification functionality to both the borrower side and lender side when a subject property is entered. In addition to the subject property address, on the borrower side, the new validation will also apply to present address, mailing address and any REO property addresses if applicable. This enhancement will validate that a borrower-entered address or LO-entered address is a property address recognized by the USPS.
This is an opt-in configuration. Please contact Blend Support to enable this in your environment(s).
Current Behavior: Currently, both the borrower and lender applications auto-suggest address completions using the Google Maps auto-complete API. However, no address format verification is performed with the USPS.
Borrower Workflow
New Behavior: When the borrower or lender enters an address, the auto-complete feature will still work as usual. After the address is saved, regardless of whether it was input manually or via auto-complete, a second check will be run to verify the address formatting with the USPS. If the existing formatting is found to match USPS verified formatting, the address will be automatically marked as verified. If there is a discrepancy between the existing formatting and the USPS verified version of that address’ formatting, the user will be prompted to update the address to the USPS-verified version in a modal. The address will not be changed without the user’s confirmation.
In the borrower application, this check will be performed for these addresses:
Subject property
Borrower present address
Borrower mailing address
Tax Transcript Filing Address
REO property addresses
Borrower entered address
Borrower address - USPS verified address
In the lender application, this check will be performed only for the subject property address.
Lender Workspace
