Date Available: Beta 10/23, Prod 10/23

Which customers are impacted?: Lenders using LPA who opt-in.

Required?: No, opt-in.

How to turn on: This will not be automatically enabled for our customers. It will be available beginning on the dates listed above. If you’d like to take advantage of this functionality, please email support@blend.com.

Purpose of Update and Benefit: Lenders using Freddie Mac's Loan Product Advisor (LPA) had to wait for a loan officer to run it by hand after each submitted application. Only Desktop Underwriter (DU) could run automatically at submit. With this release, LPA can also run automatically the moment a borrower submits. Loan officers skip a manual step, get underwriting findings sooner, and LPA-first or dual-AUS lenders now have the same automation DU users already had.

Current Behavior: When a borrower submits a full application, only DU can run automatically. LPA results are available only after a loan officer triggers LPA manually from the LO Toolkit.

New Behavior: When enabled, LPA runs automatically right after a borrower submits a full application and the automatic credit pull completes. It mirrors the existing DU auto-run.

Notes:

  • Enabled separately for Conventional, VA and FHA loans.

  • Findings appear in AUS Tracking in the LO Toolkit, the same as auto-run DU results.

  • If both DU and LPA auto-run are enabled, both run at submit and the most recent successful result is selected automatically.

  • If the borrower didn't select a product, lenders can optionally have Blend select an eligible 30-year fixed conventional product so LPA can still run.

  • Auto-run LPA applies to purchase loans. It is skipped for:

    • refinances

    • loans with no product selected and no default product configured

    • VA purchase loans with a backend DTI of 41% or higher

    • loans with missing REO linking

    • loans where the credit pull did not complete

  • If an automatic run is skipped or fails, borrower submission isn't affected and the loan officer can run LPA manually as before.
