Which customers are impacted?: Lenders who create review-only documents via the API and have the feature enabled.

Required?: No, opt-in.

How to turn on: This will not be automatically enabled for our customers. It will be available beginning on the dates listed above. If you’d like to take advantage of this functionality, please email support@blend.com.

Purpose of Update and Benefit: This update improves the borrower experience by ensuring review-only documents appear consistently across API- and UI-driven workflows. Today, some lenders create documents via POST /documents with status SIGNATURE_REQUESTED and use them in REVIEW_DOCS / DOCUMENT_REVIEW follow-ups. While these documents are intended for review rather than e-signature, they are not visible in the borrower’s Docs tab, creating an inconsistent experience compared to similar UI-based flows. With this enhancement, review-only documents included in review follow-ups are now visible in the borrower’s Docs tab, while existing document event behavior is preserved to avoid duplicate notifications or unnecessary processing.

Current Behavior: Documents created via POST /documents with SIGNATURE_REQUESTED status and used in review follow-ups do not appear in the borrower’s Docs tab and do not trigger document availability events.

New Behavior: Documents with SIGNATURE_REQUESTED status used in REVIEW_DOCS / DOCUMENT_REVIEW follow-ups now appear in the borrower’s Docs tab while remaining in SIGNATURE_REQUESTED status, and they continue to suppress document availability events. All other behavior remains unchanged when the feature flag is off.
