Date Available: Beta 3/31, Prod 4/28
Which customers are impacted?: All lenders are impacted.
Required?: Yes, this is a required release. Required releases are features that Blend wants to standardize in the codebase, and typically do not require additional configuration.
How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled on the dates listed above.
Purpose of Update and Benefit: The name suffix field currently allows free-text input, which can result in non-standard values being entered and passed to downstream systems. This may lead to data quality issues and integration errors when unexpected values are received by the LOS. This update introduces controlled suffix values to improve data consistency, reduce integration errors, and ensure alignment between the application and downstream system requirements.
Current Behavior: The suffix field in the borrower information section is a free-text input, allowing users to enter any value. This can result in non-standard entries that may not be recognized by downstream systems, potentially causing processing or integration issues.

New Behavior: When enabled, the suffix field is presented as a dropdown menu with standardized values (e.g., Jr., Sr., II, III, IV, V, VI). These values are aligned with downstream system requirements to ensure consistent data formatting and reduce integration errors. When this functionality is not enabled, the field continues to behave as a free-text input, with no change to the existing experience.
