Current Behavior:
Today, customers have the option to enable preferred language type(s) for the new URLA. Tenants also have the ability to choose which available languages to display. Available languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Other.
Borrowers are presented with their preferred language selection within the ‘Additional Questions’ step of the application process. Borrowers do always have the option to select ‘I do not wish to provide this information’.
New Behavior:
With the release of the new SCIF Language preference question, this will be enabled for all tenants. The question will be optional for the borrower to answer. The question will appear in the Additional Questions section of the borrower loan application.
This release will also enable the language preference question in the lender application, which will appear in the Borrower Information section. The preferred language SCIF question will be bypassable/optional such that the borrower is not required to select any option, including “I do not wish to respond” according to GSE guidance.
