Date Available: Beta 11/10, Prod 12/8

Which customers are impacted?: Lenders using hybrid closings

Required?: Yes, this is a required release. Required releases are features that Blend wants to standardize in the codebase, and typically do not require additional configuration.

How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled on the dates listed above.

Purpose of Update and Benefit: Notaries conducting hybrid wet-sign closings need a convenient way to verify whether borrowers have completed their eSign documents before the signing ceremony begins. A new QR code sheet included in the hybrid closing package allows notaries to quickly check eSign status from their mobile device without logging in to Blend's Settlement Agent Workspace or contacting Blend's Close Help Line.

Current Behavior: Hybrid closing packages do not include eSign status information. To confirm whether borrowers have completed their eSign documents, the notary or settlement agent must log in to Blend's Settlement Agent Workspace or contact Blend's Close Help Line.

New Behavior: Every hybrid closing package sent by the lender now includes a one-page QR code sheet. The sheet is printed as the first page of the settlement agent's ink-sign documents in Settlement Agent Workspace and provides instructions for the notary to scan the QR code before beginning the signing ceremony.

Scanning the QR code opens a page displaying eSign completion status, including the number of signers who have completed their documents.

Additional details:

  • The QR code contains a security token, and the page it opens does not display loan-related personally identifiable information.

  • When a closing package is redrawn, a new QR code sheet is generated and the previous QR code is deactivated.

  • The sheet is for reference only and should not be signed or returned with the completed closing documents.

  • The sheet is excluded from the Close QC Agent's document comparison and will not be flagged as an unsigned document.
