Date Available: Beta 11/10, Prod 12/8

Which customers are impacted?: All lenders. This functionality will be automatically enabled for all lenders. Existing role permissions will retain their current access, so there is no immediate change to user access unless an administrator updates the new permission.

Required?: Yes, this is a required release. Required releases are features that Blend wants to standardize in the codebase, and typically do not require additional configuration.

How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled on the dates listed above. Once enabled, the new “Download Application Package” permission will appear in Role Permissions, where administrators can configure access for individual roles.

Purpose of Update and Benefit: Administrators can now control who is allowed to download the raw data files in a loan's application package, separately from who can export loans to their LOS.

The application package can include raw loan data files (MISMO XML, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac files, and JSON). Previously, any user with the “Export Loans” permission could download these files. This update lets institutions limit that access to the roles they choose, while loan officers keep the ability to export loans to their LOS.

Current Behavior: Any user with the “Export Loans” permission can download the application package ZIP, including raw loan data files (MISMO XML, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac files, and JSON), using the “Download application package” option in the loan header (⋯) menu. There is no separate permission to control access to raw data files independently of “Export Loans”.

Access to borrower-shared documents and the 1003 PDF in the application package ZIP continues to be controlled by the existing “Bulk Download Loan Documents” permission.

New Behavior: A new “Download Application Package” permission will appear in Role Permissions, nested under “Export Loans”.

It controls whether the ZIP downloaded through the “Download application package” option in the loan header (⋯) menu includes raw loan data files: MISMO XML, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac files, and JSON. Users must have both “Export Loans” and “Download Application Package” permissions to download these files.

“Export Loans” continues to control exporting loans to the LOS, allowing loan officers to retain LOS export access without necessarily having permission to download raw data files locally.

“Bulk Download Loan Documents” is unchanged and continues to control access to borrower-shared documents and the 1003 PDF included in the ZIP. Because the 1003 PDF also contains borrower personal information, administrators should set “Bulk Download Loan Documents” to “Never” for any role that should not have access to download it.

Existing roles will retain their current access to download application packages when this functionality is enabled. The new permission will default to match each role's existing “Export Loans” permission, so there will be no change to existing access unless an administrator updates the permission settings.

Note: The “Download application package” menu item appears if a user has either the “Download Application Package” or “Bulk Download Loan Documents” permission for a loan. If a user only has the “Bulk Download Loan Documents” permission, their ZIP will include borrower-shared documents and the 1003 PDF, but not raw loan data files. For example, when “Download Application Package” is set to “Assigned to loan” and “Bulk Download Loan Documents” is set to “Always,” the download option appears on every loan. However, downloading a package for a loan that isn't assigned to the user will only include borrower-shared documents and the 1003 PDF.

Additional Note: Changes to the “Export Loans” permission will automatically update the “Download Application Package” permission to match. To maintain your desired access settings, configure “Export Loans” first, then adjust “Download Application Package”.
