Date Available: Beta 4/14, Prod 4/21
Which customers are impacted?: All mortgage lenders.
Required?: Yes, this is a required release. Required releases are features that Blend wants to standardize in the codebase, and typically do not require additional configuration.
How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled on the dates listed above.
Purpose of Update and Benefit: We’ve improved how mortgage applications handle co-borrowers during the early application process. In some cases, when a co-borrower was added and either borrower completed the “Getting to Know You” (GTKY) step, the application could automatically move to a completed and locked status. This prevented borrowers from continuing and required manual intervention to reopen the application.
This update ensures the co-borrower’s identity is properly recognized before application progress is evaluated, so actions are correctly treated as borrower-initiated, resulting in a smoother experience with fewer interruptions.
Current Behavior: Applications with a co-borrower could become completed and locked after one borrower finished the GTKY step, preventing further progress and requiring manual reopening.
New Behavior: Applications now correctly remain open after the GTKY step, allowing both borrowers to complete all required steps without interruption.
