Updated Default Consent to Contact Text

Which customers are impacted?: This feature impacts customers who meet all of the following criteria: 

  1. Perform app intake for mortgage, home equity, and consumer banking loans built on Blend’s Lending platform
  2. Have opted in to collect Consent to Contact
  3. Use Blend’s default language for Consent to Contact

How to turn on: This feature will be enabled automatically per the dates listed above.

Purpose of Update and Benefit:
Based on guidance around the FCC amendment to the definition of “prior express written consent,” Blend will be updating the default Consent to Contact language. Consent to Contact is an optional consent in Blend, and the language can be customized to suit customer needs. This change will only impact customers who have opted in to collect Consent to Contact, and who are using Blend’s default language for this consent. 

Current Behavior:
The Consent to Contact appears in the footer of the Getting Started page - the same page where borrowers are first asked to provide their phone number into the application. 

 

 

When clicking the “Consent to Contact” hyperlink, a pop-up modal showing the configured consent text will appear. 

 

The default Consent to Contact text is: 

By checking this box, you consent to receive telemarketing messages including via an automatic telephone dialing system or an artificial or prerecorded voice to your number listed above. Your consent is not a condition of purchase.

New Behavior:

The consent to contact will remain accessible from a hyperlink on the Getting Started page, and the full text will appear in a modal when that hyperlink is clicked. 

For any customer who has been using Blend’s default Consent to Contact language, the text in the modal will be updated to: 

By checking this box, you consent to receive telemarketing messages including via an automatic telephone dialing system, including SMS text messages, or an artificial or prerecorded voice to the number provided in this application for telemarketing purposes, regardless of whether or your phone number is on any Do Not Call list. You understand that charges may apply to a mobile phone if that is the number provided. You understand that  consent is not a condition of purchase, and you may opt out at any time.
