Update: This release was previously announced in 12/15/23 release notes, however, went on hold. This feature is now available (see beta and prod dates below).
Date Available: Beta 1/16, Prod 2/13
Which customers are impacted?:
All customers who allow applicants to create Blend user accounts from the login app / create user flow are impacted by this release. This will not affect customers who only allow Blend user account creation from within an application (also known as Delayed Account Creation), or who only use consumer SSO.
How to turn on:
Purpose of Update and Benefit:
When an applicant attempts to sign up for a new account prior to starting an application with an email that is already associated with a Blend user, the applicant will now be directed to "sign in" for clearer direction on how to proceed.
Current Behavior:
Previously, if an applicant attempted to sign up for a new account in the sign up or create an account page with an email that was already associated with a Blend user, the applicant would see an error "A user with this email already exists." This messaging didn't provide the applicant with clear next steps.
New Behavior:
Now, if an applicant attempted to sign up for a new account in the sign up or create an account page with an email that was already associated with a Blend user, the applicant will see an error "A user with this email already exists. Please sign in to continue."
