Purpose of Update and Benefit:
Numerous lenders observed that their settlement agents were bypassing the eSignature platform that Blend offers to the borrowers to eSign the sign ahead documents, instead requiring borrowers to physically sign documents that might have already been electronically signed.
To resolve this issue, settlement agents will not be able to download the eSign closing documents prior to those documents getting signed by the borrowers. The settlement agents however will be able to download the eSign closing documents after they are signed by the borrowers.
Current Behavior:
Settlement agents have the ability to download the eSign closing documents from settlement agent workspace before and after the borrowers have signed the eSign documents. As they can download the eSign documents before they are signed, many settlement agents end up downloading those documents and prepare those documents for ink-signing on the signing table.
New Behavior:
Settlement agents will be able to download the eSign closing documents only after they are signed by the borrower. The settlement agents will still be able to view the list of documents and the documents themselves, however, will no longer be able to download them through settlement agent workspace prior to those documents getting signed.
Upon clicking the view icon on the eSign Closing Documents card, the user will be presented with the list of documents in this experience.
