Date Available: Available now in beta, Prod 10/3
Which customers are impacted?: All customers using Blend’s Lending platform to process mortgage and home equity loans.
How to turn on: This feature will be automatically enabled for all customers on the dates listed above.
Purpose of Update and Benefit:
Loan teams who add co-borrowers to post-submission loans will now be able to send and resend invitations to those co-borrowers. Specific use cases for this feature are when
Previously, loan teams were able to add co-borrowers in these cases, but they were not able to send invitations to those co-borrowers. This prevented co-borrowers from being alerted when they needed to complete post-submission tasks (e.g. viewing/signing documents). This feature will address this gap by allowing co-borrowers to receive invitations to create their accounts.
Current Behavior:
Additional borrowers can be added to a post-submission loan, but loan teams cannot send those co-borrowers an invitation. Sometimes borrowers are added to LOS and we sync loans and co-borrowers are added to loans in Blend.
New Behavior:
When enabled, loan teams will be able to invite any co-borrower that has been added to a post-submission loan. After the co-borrower is added to a post-submission loan through the Manage Borrowers modal, co-borrowers should immediately receive an email invitation alerting them that they have been added to the loan, and prompting them to create an account.
When co-borrowers are added this way, the loan will be in a “follow-up only” state. They will not be prompted to go through the borrower application, and they will only see Tasks related to follow-ups in their loan hub.
If loan teams need to resend invitations to all borrowers at a later date, they should see both the co-borrower and primary borrower as options after clicking the “Resend invite” button. This will allow them to resend invitations to either borrower.
If the primary borrower has not completed the application prior to the loan team adding the co-borrower, then the co-borrower will not receive an invitation until after the primary borrower finishes the Getting Started section.
