Role permissions required for email reminders
Setting user-level email reminder settings requires the "Edit reminder preferences" permission set to Always.
Setting tenant-level email reminder settings requires the “Edit client-facing system config” permission set to Always.
Note: Blend Support does not manage user roles and permissions. For any changes to your role and permission, contact your Blend administrator at your organization.
Order of precedence for email reminders
When both organization-level and user-level email reminders are configured, the emails will follow the order below:
- User-level settings - Settings that affect an individual user.
- Tenant-level settings - Settings that affect the entire organization or environment.
- Default settings - Blend's out-of-the-box settings.
Based on this waterfall, if your Blend administrator has modified the email reminder settings and a user has also set their email reminder preferences, the email reminder cadence in Blend will default to the individual user settings first.
User-level email reminder settings
To configure an email reminder cadence at the user level, go to Your settings > Account > Email Reminders.
Choose how often reminders are sent using the radio buttons. Enter the total number of reminders in the "Number of reminders" field. You can set up to 10 email reminders and set the reminders to be up to 96 hours apart.
If you choose to notify borrowers directly outside of Blend, choose the "Never, only manual reminders" option. The initial emails when follow-ups are requested or disclosures are issued will be sent out from Blend, but email reminders will not be sent.
To reset reminder settings to default click Reset defaults at the bottom of the page. The default email reminder settings are 3 reminders, 48 hours apart.
When you're done making changes click Save Changes.
These settings are configured at the user level and will apply to loans where the user is assigned as the Loan Originator.
If the loan is assigned to a different Loan Originator, the email reminder cadence will immediately follow the cadence of the new assignee.
Note: Turning off notifications for all borrowers in the follow-ups tab overrides the configured email cadence for follow-ups for that loan.
Tenant-level email reminder settings
Blend administrators with access to the Setup panel can find the tenant-level email reminder settings. Email reminder settings can be configured for:
- Incomplete application emails
- Follow-up emails
- Disclosure package emails
- Go to Your settings > Setup > Email Reminders.
- Using the radio buttons, select the frequency for email reminders to be sent.
- Enter the number of times email reminders will be sent up to a maximum of 10 total email reminders.
- Click Save changes.
To revert to default settings, click the “Reset defaults” button at the bottom of this page. The default settings is set to 3 email reminders every 48 hours.
Types of configurable email reminders
- Incomplete application emails - Controls how often your borrowers are reminded to complete their application.
- Follow-up email cadence - Controls how often your borrowers are reminded of incomplete follow-ups.
- Disclosures package emails - Controls how often your borrowers are reminded to complete their disclosures.
Frequently asked questions about email reminder settings
If the Edit email reminders role permission is turned off for a user, will the personalized email reminder settings remain in effect?
Yes. The loan will retain the email reminder settings of the user assigned as the loan originator before the role permission is disabled. Blend administrators may want to ask users to reset their email settings to default before turning off the role permission.
What is the maximum number of email reminders that can be configured for each type?
Users can configure up to 10 email reminders for each type.
